NDP Preview

Did a long distance run today...

LPC last min said his sis had extra tix to the NDP Preview. Since first NDP at Marina, decided to join them.

But had to run to MRT station after dance class to take MRT to City Hall, then ran all the way from City Hall MRT to Marina Square!! Managed to reach there juz before 6pm. Bought a can of 100Plus on the way, but security was so tight that they didn't allow the can of 100Plus in!! Had to finish the can within a minute before entering... stress man!! But lucky was so thristy with all the running, so managed to finish the drink fast :)

The Parade...
was pretty cool. Held at the world's largest floating platform, it's very different from previous years, with lots of water features. The Red Lions did 2 jumps - one at the usual evening time, and once again later on when it was dark! And the choir didn't do much singing this year. Left the singing to all the theatre experts :) And the fireworks? Brilliant!! And a lot!! Our seats were pretty good! The fireworks were directly in front of us! Took some pictures with my hp:

The Goodie Bag...
had lots of cute stuff. The mini-fan was pretty cool. Had words appearing and running around the blades. And the animal hat with lights was pretty fun! Check them out!

Eating & Eating

Been eating a lot lately. Last week, had dinner at Prego with the rest of the gang to celebrate birthdays for CH & HS.

Then had lunch at Ikea with CH yest. She brought me to try the famous meatballs and chicken wings, which I never tried before (actually, didn't even know they were famous... since I'm the Eat To Live type). Quite nice wor. Like the meatballs with jam!

Then had farewell lunch with Z & JJ today at Breeks at Taka. Z getting posted out to another place, and JJ got a new job. Had HUGE dessert - think it's called Massive Attack. For 5-6 people!!

Of coz I didn't finish that alone lah! :) Shared with NN, CH, JJ & LPC, but we still didn't manage to finish it!

Then met DSR for dinner. Usually we'll go for chilli crabs, but decided to pamper ourselves by not having to de-shell crabs, so shared a Crab Tartine at the Fre(n)sh Cafe at VivoCity. It's real crab meat wor! =) Had Tiramisu for dessert. Looks nice rite?

Oh btw, check out the gift we got for Z. Looks like Scabbers huh? But it got all confused whether it's a male or female after JD decorated it...

The Deathly Hallows

Juz finished reading the book today..... Many thanks to CH =)

Wow!! Now finally know the answers to:

Who is RAB?
I managed to guess that correctly! =) Think many people got that too!

Is Snape good or bad? Why does Dumbledore trust Snape so much?
No matter what... he'll still be a git to me!!

Why was Dumbledore happy when Voldemort used Harry's blood in Book 4?
Very chim theory. Have to re-read again to understand...

Mixed feelings though... It's great to finally know all the answers... but this means no more waiting and looking forward to another Harry Potter book again :(
Even though there are still 2 more movies... but the movies dun seem to leave much impression on me... always cannot recall what happened in the previous movies, and whenever I watch the movies, my brain will be subconsciously pointing out all the differences between the movie and the book...

Anyway, it's been a great series of books! As Ron Weasley would say - it's "bloody brilliant"!! Wonder if there will ever be another series that will be so entertaining...

Slow Pet

Got a new pet today:

Was out in the field and it clung on to my boots. Cute! =) Had to wait ages for it to crawl off my boots though... :p

The Wait Is Almost Over...

Finally... the last Harry Potter book will be out in 7 hours time!! After the disappointing movie, I'm sure the last book will reveal lots of answers... Can't wait!!

The Order Of The Phoenix

Had our Order Of The Phoenix meeting tonite. 13 members Apparated to The Cathay at 8:00pm. Things were rather messy as it's the first meeting, and there were some problems with the seating arrangements (with 13 of us!!). Ended up blocking the entrance for the Muggles. But managed to get it sorted out juz in time.

The Order was pretty boring though... Lots of talk and little action...

Disappointing.

Platinum at Butter Factory

Finally stepped into Butter Factory! Went with PL & YV to watch KR & Platinum perform there last nite. Perfomance started at about 11:30pm, with Platinum dancing to Beatboxer Dharni's beats. They were really good!

Then Taiwanese girl group MYRS heated up the floor with their dances. Actually I dunno who they are. Apparently they have been on several Taiwan variety shows and are pretty hot. There were 3 guys standing next to us who were there specially to see MYRS. They were quite entertaining, but I think the Platinum girls dance better.

But I will definitely remember MYRS now... Why?? Cos got pulled up on stage by... let me see... think it's Yuri... during their last song!! The second time kena pulled up on stage in a week!! What's happening man?? Actually Yuri pulled YV first... I was laughing at YV, and the next moment, Yuri's hands caught hold of mine!! 真是活该!! Should never laugh at people...

Anyway, some pics from the performances. Thought I'll 介绍 MYRS here since we shared the same stage. Hee Hee! =)

Think Sunny looks a bit like Karen Mok?

Oh, and realised how nice the atmosphere is without cigarette smoke all over the place. No more smelly hair! Hurray for the smoking ban in pubs & clubs!

Guy movies

Watched Transformers yesterday. Didn't really like the cartoons last time, but this movie is good!! Very good!!

Then watched Die Hard 4 today. Lots of action and explosions. And it's seems really hard for Mr John McClane to die! The movie is quite all right. Prefer Transformers though.

Two guy movies in 2 days!! Enough explosions already. Want to watch some chick-flicks! But I think the next movie I'll be catching is Harry Potter & The Order Of The Phoenix. Opens in cinemas tomorrow!!

Lack of Sleep

So sleepy... 3 late nites in a row.

Wed nite
Had din with AM at The Central Mall. Tried the Ra-men at Marutama Ra-men. The char-siew very nice, but fatty. $16 per bowl. Think their logo look like a basketball?

Supposed to meet LC after that to celebrate her PHD at Butter Factory, but her convo ceremony ended late. So we decided to postpone the party to Thurs nite. AM & me left Clarke Quay after sitting by the Singapore River for more than an hour. Reached home about mid-night...

Thurs nite
Met LC & AM for dinner at Sakae Sushi, Wheelock, then went down to Clarke Quay after meeting up with another of LC's fren. It's Ladies Nite at the 1 Nite Stand Bar & Comedy Club so in we went. 4 free drinks per pax. ET and EG joined us later. There was a rock band playing... super loud!! We were trying to figure out why the lead singer/guitarist had wind blowing in his hair! Quite funny!! Haha!

We got hungry at about mid-night, so adjourned to The Pump Room for some finger food. Nicer music here! Check out the wash basin in the Ladies. Took the pic cos we were in the Ladies for a long time, listening to a very chatty lady telling us about something... can't remember now...

Tried their India Pale Ale while the rest tried the Pump Room Lager. Can't tell the difference leh.
Reached home at about 3am... had to take 2 hours time-off work the next morning.

Fri nite
Office D&D... kena sabo by the rest of the table (esp NN, Z, LD, J, LPC & T) and had to do some ridiculous Indian dance on stage... so embarassing!! After that, J, LPC and me met up with WW at the 24-hr Macs at AMK for a gossip session. Again reached home at about 3am...

Had to go to work today. Reached office on time at 8:30am. Then after work, stoned for a while, then went for KR's dance class. Brain was working very slowly by then. But KR had to choose today to teach us some super fast and complicated dance steps!! Couldn't catch half the time!! :(

Going to catch up on my beauty sleep now...... zzz......

Long Day

Decided to go cycling at East Coast with LC & AM yest. We were supposed to meet and cycle in the morning when it's not so hot, but by the time we reached there, it was already 11am. Walked past the Singapore's First Cable Ski Park. Looks pretty fun! Should go try that one day.

AM & me were starving after the long walk. So instead of exercising, we had a feast. Haha!

After lunch, received an sms that KR's class was cancelled. So didn't have to rush back for class. While walking around, came across the Castle Beach. So cool!!

After stoning for a while, we decided to cycle since we were already there. Was scorching hot tho! Lucky had applied sunblock (SPF45!!) in the morning before leaving home.

Left East Coast at about 3pm, went back home, picked up the car, ta-bao dinner from MOS Burger at J8, then drove to the National Stadium for the Field Of Dreams Closing Ceremony. We missed the first game - friendly between legendary footballers from Singapore and Malaysia.

After the first game, there was the lighting of the cauldron for the last time by some Singapore athletes. Actually we didn't even know there was a cauldron at the National Stadium...

Followed by the second game - friendly between Singapore Lions & Australian Socceroos. Singapore lost 0-3, so didn't manage to see a Singapore goal. But had fun doing the Kallang wave and shouting "We Want Goal" as well as "Referee Kayu" :p

After the game came the closing ceremony - Sharing of memories at the stadium, followed by a song by Kit Chan... then it's time for some fireworks. Thought there would be a big bang to send off the grand old dame (as they call the National Stadium), but the fireworks were like constipated little spurts lor... quite disappointing... very sparse and brief...

LightsOut dance party with Zouk DJs after the closing ceremony:

Not many people at the party cos had to pay separately in order to be able to go down to the field. After getting all the flak about overcharging for the closing ceremony tickets, and after the lame fireworks, they still wanna charge extra for partying on the field??!! Quite crappy lah! Why need to pay extra??!! Obviously we didn't pay extra lah. Can enjoy the music from the stands also mah! Duh...

Anyways, we decided to go for supper at Geylang after the traffic jam at the carpark dispersed. Found the jam at Geylang instead... guess everybody had the same idea as us... Finally managed to find parking and had 豆花 & Durian. Yummy!! =)

Some National Stadium memories:

1993 Malaysia Cup, Singapore vs Brunei
My first live soccer game. Singapore won 8-0!! Quite an experience!! Went with my secondary school class mates. Hard to imagine a bunch of girls watching soccer? By the end of the game, we were all experts - know when to stamp feet, when to scream "Referee Kayu" etc. But still a bit blur about offside... at that time... I know now ok! :p

2001 Manchester United Asian Tour
My fave EPL team!! Didn't manage to get tickets for the game, but thanks to NS, got tickets for their training session. David Beckham was like 1 cm tall from where we were sitting. But hey, better than nothing right? :p

2004 National Day Parade
Back-up dancer for JJ Lin's hip hop version of Home. First time I performed at NDP. Unbelievable!! Of coz many weekends were burnt at the NDP rehearsals, and quite tired of having KFC & Pizza Hut for dinner every week, but had great fun!! Many thanks to Music Forest for the rare opportunity! =)
