AM & me were starving after the long walk. So instead of exercising, we had a feast. Haha!
After lunch, received an sms that KR's class was cancelled. So didn't have to rush back for class. While walking around, came across the Castle Beach. So cool!!
After stoning for a while, we decided to cycle since we were already there. Was scorching hot tho! Lucky had applied sunblock (SPF45!!) in the morning before leaving home.
Left East Coast at about 3pm, went back home, picked up the car, ta-bao dinner from MOS Burger at J8, then drove to the National Stadium for the Field Of Dreams Closing Ceremony. We missed the first game - friendly between legendary footballers from Singapore and Malaysia.
After the first game, there was the lighting of the cauldron for the last time by some Singapore athletes. Actually we didn't even know there was a cauldron at the National Stadium...
Followed by the second game - friendly between Singapore Lions & Australian Socceroos. Singapore lost 0-3, so didn't manage to see a Singapore goal. But had fun doing the Kallang wave and shouting "We Want Goal" as well as "Referee Kayu" :p
After the game came the closing ceremony - Sharing of memories at the stadium, followed by a song by Kit Chan... then it's time for some fireworks. Thought there would be a big bang to send off the grand old dame (as they call the National Stadium), but the fireworks were like constipated little spurts lor... quite disappointing... very sparse and brief...
LightsOut dance party with Zouk DJs after the closing ceremony:
Not many people at the party cos had to pay separately in order to be able to go down to the field. After getting all the flak about overcharging for the closing ceremony tickets, and after the lame fireworks, they still wanna charge extra for partying on the field??!! Quite crappy lah! Why need to pay extra??!! Obviously we didn't pay extra lah. Can enjoy the music from the stands also mah! Duh...
Anyways, we decided to go for supper at Geylang after the traffic jam at the carpark dispersed. Found the jam at Geylang instead... guess everybody had the same idea as us... Finally managed to find parking and had 豆花 & Durian. Yummy!! =)
Some National Stadium memories:
1993 Malaysia Cup, Singapore vs Brunei
My first live soccer game. Singapore won 8-0!! Quite an experience!! Went with my secondary school class mates. Hard to imagine a bunch of girls watching soccer? By the end of the game, we were all experts - know when to stamp feet, when to scream "Referee Kayu" etc. But still a bit blur about offside... at that time... I know now ok! :p
2001 Manchester United Asian Tour
My fave EPL team!! Didn't manage to get tickets for the game, but thanks to NS, got tickets for their training session. David Beckham was like 1 cm tall from where we were sitting. But hey, better than nothing right? :p
2004 National Day Parade
Back-up dancer for JJ Lin's hip hop version of Home. First time I performed at NDP. Unbelievable!! Of coz many weekends were burnt at the NDP rehearsals, and quite tired of having KFC & Pizza Hut for dinner every week, but had great fun!! Many thanks to Music Forest for the rare opportunity! =)
